Life in the Fast Lane

Hey Friends,

My name is Shelby, and I am a 28-year-old Michigan girl. I'm a teacher, a small business owner, and typically always have an iced coffee in hand. In 2017, I married my favorite racecar driving adrenaline junkie. We have two fur babies, Jax + Waylon, who we are absolutely obsessed with. 

​

We're typically at a racetrack, on a snowmobile trail, or out boating, our three favorite past times. Hence, the name of the blog: Life in the Fast Lane. I recently found a passion for working out and living a healthier lifestyle after being diagnosed with Endometriosis in 2018. I am not where I want to be yet, but I am definitely closer than I once was.

 

As a young child, I would use my dad's 1990's on-the-shoulder style video camera to make videos with my cousins. In middle school, my friends and I were introduced to the digital camera world, where we could make videos on SD cards and upload them to YouTube. I took a digital media class in high school, where I was taught the basics of filming and editing videos. I've always loved creating and editing videos and think of videos as my way of scrapbooking my life in a video form.

I've also always loved the way that social media works... the algorithms, the programs to create posts, the photo presets, the hashtags; it's all so interesting to me. In 2021, I decided to start Fast Lane Media, where I help others build and grow their platforms and create digital media content for them.

 

I was encouraged to create a blog for one of my college classes. I absolutely love writing... so I decided to make my blog public in 2020, and I am happy that I did. I think of it as a way to vent or get how I feel off of my chest—the good, the bad, the ugly, and everything in-between. I also love sharing all of the great deals or life tips that I find with others, and I thought that a blog would be the perfect way to do all of that and even more.
